IT HAS BEEN A WHILE

September 2nd, 2012 at 08:32 pm

It has been almost a 2 yrs since I've been blogging. Much has happened in my life but I'm pleased to say that I'm back to my basics here on Savings Advice. This has always been a home for me for how I believe in finances and money.

I just wanted to thank all of you who voted for me. It was my first time to blog and was pretty painless.

10 things that I regret

1. I regret not spending more time with the aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents when I moved to another state. We all think we have tomorrow and yet so many that I loved have passed on.

2. I regret not going on to college after high school. I wan't sure of what I wanted to study and didn't go. It would have broadened my horizons and my mind up to a career.

3. I regret not knowing enough about myself and it lead me into some not so wise decisions. I had just lost a father at 15 and went through a lot of sadness, loneliness, fear, and neediness at the time.

4. I regret not listening to and heeding advice from my friends and relatives about relationships that I later regretted.

5. I regret not seeing signs that were flashing like red lights about relationships that were not good for me.

6. I regret spending too much time in volunteer work when I should have been doing some possitive things for myself. A balance of some volunteer work and some time for myself would have been wiser.

7. I regret not saving at least 10% of my pay from the beginning. I'm having to save larger amounts now to get where I need to be.

8. I regret staying too long on jobs where I wasn't happy at , making enough money, nor growing because I felt a loyalty to my boss.

9. I regret not seeking out more long-term friendships when my children were younger. We both had large families and we seemed to always have something going on with our families. It literally left very little time for friends.

10. I regret giving up a job that I loved that would have put me into a much better place today. I allowed my spouse to talk me into staying home. I have always been his bookkeeper since he has been self employed but I needed to be out on my own.

Like others, I don't regret my children. They have been a source of pleasure and pride.
